LOCAL COMPETITION

Saturday October 17th was a fantastic day for Milford Youth Cheer as the Lady Hawks soared at the Central Massachusetts Cheer Competition at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell.

The first squad up for the day, was our 11 and under squad.  This squad entertained everyone with their wonderfully executed routine. They had great stunting and tumbling skills including many one legged stunts, twist pops, barrel rolls and back handsprings .  This squad placed 2nd out of the 8 squads in their division and we couldn't be prouder.  This squad is coached by head coach Charlene Capone, assistant coaches Ann Currie, Marin Dolan and Kristen Haley, student coaches Allie Salvati, Samantha Johnson and Jordan DaSilva.  They cheer for the undefeated 6th grade football team.

Next up was our 10 and under squad.  This squad did an unbelievable job executing their routine.  They had a great pyramid, advanced stunts including one legged scorpions and exciting tumbling passes.  It is hard to believe that this is our youngest competing squad for they perform wonderfully.  This squad placed 2nd out of the 4 teams in their division.  We are so proud of this team.  The squad is coached by head coach Maria Scozzafava, assistant coaches Bobbi Jean Clemmer and Adele Mucera, student coaches Alyssa Norris, Katie Gavern and Elle McColgan.  This squad alternates cheering for the 4th and 5th grade football teams.

Our third squad up for the day was our 15 and under squad.  This is our oldest squad and it is easy to see, for they performed beautifully.  They have an unbelievable routine including 1 legged stunts, twist pops, a great cheer, fantastic jumps and fabulous dance moves.  This squad placed 2nd out of the three teams in their division.  We couldn't be prouder.  This squad is coached by head coach Annie Chiarelli, assistant coaches Melissa Juliano and Lisa Caso, student coaches Samantha Breen and Jessica Pittsley.  These girls alternate cheering for the 7th and 8th grade football teams.

Milford's last squad up for the day was the mitey mite squad.  These are our youngest girls.  They are too young to compete, so they executed a fabulous exhibition routine.  It was very advanced with excellent stunts and great tumbling.  They won over the crowd with their great dance moves.  Congratulations to the girls for doing an outstanding job.  This squad is coached by Nicole Cheschi with assistant coaches Casey Proper and Christine Umina, and student coaches Loren Blanchard and Allison Tomaso.  This squad cheers for the 3rd grade football team.

We are so extremely proud that all three of our competing squads came in 2nd in each of their respective divisions and all will be advancing to the Regional Cheer Competition on Saturday November 21 at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut.

Thank you to all the parents, families, football players and coaches that came to support our girls.  In was an incredible day for all of Milford Youth Cheer and we can hardly wait until Regionals to watch the girls compete again.

Congratulations Lady Hawks!  Congratulations coaches!!

FUN COMPETITION

All of our Lady Hawks performed at the Central Massachusetts Cheerleading Fun Competition hosted by Shrewsbury this past Sunday October 11, 2009.  It was a great time for performers and spectators alike.

First up for Milford was our Mitey Mite team.  These are our youngest girls and for most, it was their first competition.  You would never have know it though, for these girls danced, tumbled and cheered beautifully.  Teams in the mitey mite division exhibition at competitions and are judged but do not get placed.  We are so proud of our youngest girls.  This team is coached by head coach Nicole Cheschi, asstants Christina Umina and Casey Kelley and student coaches Lauren Blanchard, Allison Tomaso and Samantha Johnson.

Next up for Milford was our 10 and under team.  This team has exhibitioned in the past but this is the first year that they have been judged and placed.  This team placed 2nd out of the 4 teams in their division and it was easy to see why.  For such young girls, they have great cheerleading and stunting skills including 1 legged scorpions.  We are proud as can be of these girls.  This team is coached by head coach Maria Scozzafava, assistant coaches Adele Mucera and Bobbi Jean Clemmer and student coaches, Alyssa Norris, Katie Gavern and Elle McColgan.

The third team up for Milford was our 11 and under team.  Most girls on this team, competed last year and all did a fabulous job at fun comp.  Their stunting and tumbling skills really impressed all at the competition.  This team placed 5th out of 8 teams in their division.  We couldn't be prouder of these girls.  This team is coached by head coach Charlene Capone, assistant coaches Ann Currie, Kristen Haley and Marin Dolan and student coach Allie Salvati.

The final team up for Milford was our 15 and under team.  The majority of these girls competed last year and some the year prior.  It is easy to see that, as they wowed the judges with their great cheer and dance moves.  This team placed 2nd out of the 3 teams in their division.  They performed wonderfully and we couldn't be prouder.  This team is coached by head coach Annie Chiarelli, assistant coaches Lisa Caso and Melissa Juliano and student coaches Samantha Breen and Jessica Pittsley.

If you see any of these girls, please congratulate them on a job well done.  They have made Milford proud!  Also wish them luck as they continue to prepare for this weeks local competition at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell Massachusetts on Saturday October 17th.  Anyone wanting to see a sneak preview of their routines is welcome to come to our pep rally this Thursday October 15th at 7:00PM at Stacy Middle School.  Great job Lady Hawks!!!
